Origins

The sport of Volleyball was brought to Trinidad and Tobago by Canadian Missionaries in the 1930's and was predominantly played by the sugar plantation workers and their children. The game was first played at Naparima College again through the involvement of the Canadian Missionaries. After our successful hosting of the 1993 Caribbean Volleyball Championships, the Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation launched a frontal offensive towards diversification, professionalization and marketing of the sport. The Trinidad and Tobago Volleyball Federation has been the recipient the Jeffrey Stollmeyer's Sport Administration Award twice (1994 & 2000). Being a non-governmental organization, the TTVF is responsible for the governance and administration of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball at all levels locally, and is constituted by clubs and any other organization that has the same interest in the sport. We have added new competitions, created new categories, and included a schools development programs.
